On the USD/CAD, 4h charts, we see a strong, consistent downtrend. For this situation – a strong existing trend – we look for Hidden Divergences. According to our “Rules of Thumb” for Divergences, we use Fibonacci Fans and Fibonacci Expansions to determine our entry points and targets, respectively.

So far prices are heading well into the range of our target and are still going strong. The point of this exercise is – we have been taking decent trades in the Live Trading Room, because we have been applying the right strategy for the right situation, according to our methodology. Any upwards pullback in such cases would be seen as simply an excuse for a better position.

Next, lets have a look at the GBP/JPY. This is another example of the correct tool being used in the right situation – namely, the CCI. We strongly believe in using CCI trendline breaks for confirmations of our entries. In this case, the CCI has given us a confirmation of a Bearish Divergence.

The CCI is the right tool for the job, because while we also saw a similar Divergence on the Stochastics, the CCI gave us resistance on a trendline, giving us an exact signal to enter Short!

Following up this trade on a shorter timeframe, we used our Fibonacci Fans, expecting price to come down along the fan channels, to our targets. The lesson is – if you are Short in a situation like this, expect price to come down to a certain fan level.Our subscribers were confident of the exit targets.

As we say often here in the Live Trading Room – exits are much more important than entries – if you don’t know how to exit well, you could end up giving up all your accumulated profits.

We’ll wrap up the recap for today with a followup on the USD/JPY from previous recaps. On the daily timeframe, we are following the breakout of a bullish Triangle formation towards the upside, and are still Long in a trade. The price is proceeding slowly and steadily upwards towards our targets. This has been a very decent technical trade so far, accumulating good profits.

It was a Yen pair on which we traded, but thats not how the trade started out. Lets have a look at the sort of correlations we were looking for.

We started off analyzing the EUR/USD. This pair has been in a bullish intraday phase, and we plotted some 1-2-3 Formations and applied our Fibonacci Expansions. Based on the Expansions, we knew that a certain level has yet to be satisfied. We were thus bullish on the EUR/USD, expecting it to go up.

From here, we went down to the Yen pairs, and compared the EUR/USD to the EUR/JPY – the two pairs should move in tandem. The Yen pairs have been on a rally today as well. We plotted Fibonacci Fans on the EUR/JPY 30 minute charts, and noticed that the price was close to breaking out of the top 88.6 fan level. We were very much bullish on this pair as well.

Moving further down to the GBP/JPY – one of the pairs we trade on a regular basis in the room. We call it “the green-eyed monster” – it moves really fast! We were looking for a proper entry to get into this trade. We plotted our Fibonacci Fans AND the Fibonacci Expansions – and found a confluence of two Fibonacci ratios at the same level, as an expected target, and entered upon the break of a Fibonacci Expansion level.

The conclusion we derive from this – Yen pairs are on the bullish side, EUR/USD on bullish side, GBP/JPY should also probably rally during the day. So which is the pair among all of this which is giving us the correct technical entry? We are technical traders – we don’t just enter a trade because we assume it will go Long or Short – the GBP/JPY fulfilled our probabilities very nicely.

We have looked at correlations. We applied our studies. We let price give us a confirmation about what its going to do and where its going to go, and then entered the trade based on our technicals. We knew where we must enter, we knew where to put our stop, and we knew where to take profit – only when you plan your trade will you be successful consistently!

Lets start off with one of the setups we managed to catch in time that is going so far in our favor.

On the GBP/CHF we were looking at a Regular Bearish Divergence, with price making higher highs, and stochastics lower highs. Based on our procedure we calculate our targets using Fibonacci projections on the last move down. So far its on a pause, but expect further moves down.

Lets go over a couple of other techniques. One I would like to discuss was used on AUD/USD. We were Long on this and we exited our trade when we saw the prices finding resistance in the Fibonacci Fans we plotted over the entire downmove on the H1 charts. Price did manage to rally up and stopped exactly at the fan level.

This does not necessarily mean there is going to be a reversal, but this is often an area of resistance where we advise to take your profits, and not necessarily reverse your trade, but be careful.

Generally we also use the Andrew’s Pitchfork. It is a very effective tool and its one of the situations we use it in a very regular fashion. Price gave us exact resistance on the upper median line of the APF. This is very effective. The simple fact is – price action is never random. There is always a measured move, or a pettern in price, and it is up to us to decipher the pattern.

This is one of the few times when we use the APF in its conventional way. Normally we twist it around so that it gives us better figures.

I’ll end this recap going over the GPB/JPY. We have been observing the daily bars – so far not broken out. But we have the possible making of a Bullish Flag. If price breaks out of this particular channel, we could expect some long moves to the upside. We had analyzed it towards the bearish side also, but right now it seems more towards the bullish side. We will be keeping a tab on this one.
